WELCOME TO iPOVCON 2020!

The 2020 International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (POVCON) is a gathering of research and extension workers from various organizations specifically the academe, local government units, and organizations geared towards helping end poverty in the Philippines and around the world. The organizers believe that poverty can be significantly reduced through research-based decision-making, fact-based project planning, science and technology enhanced program implementation, and socially-grounded policy formulation and implementation.
One major role of the academe is to generate information/knowledge, technology, and skilled and competent graduates. Most of these knowledge-based resources (specifically the researches and its developed technologies) are left unused by the intended clients. Also, the academe is home to experts which are largely untapped by organizations to help them formulate appropriate solutions to societal problems like poverty.
The conference was created in 2017 to serve as a platform for dialogue between agencies who have the direct capacity to respond to the challenges brought about by poverty. The academe and other participants in the conference are expected to share their discoveries and other information derived from their researches. They will also learn how the LGUs and NGOs, and other units (both private and public organizations) are doing to solve poverty. Positive developments or success stories by the LGUs, NGOs, GOs, NGAs, and other organizations in the Philippines in reducing or managing poverty will be presented to educate and inspire participants.
With lessons learned from the previous confabs, enhancement of the program proceedings and format to make it more effective has been incorporated. This year’s conference focuses on Reinventing Resilience, Empowering Citizenry as countries around the world put more emphasis on eradication of poverty.
There shall be four conference tracks:
- Human Health Crisis and Management
This strand shall tackle the general concept of human health crisis and crisis management. This track shall discuss how humans deal with human health crisis before, during, and after a plight. - Resources, Technology, and Products for Crisis Management

This track shall discuss how different government and non-government organizations make use of their resources to serve and advance the welfare of the people in times of public crises. - Environmental Crisis and Management
This track shall cover all types of non-human health crisis and management. Studies that venture topics in environmental, ecological, economic and other types of crises.
